Amann Hired by Donovan: Is That Wrong?

The new Speaker of Connecticut’s House of Representatives, Chris Donovan, has hired as a senior advisor, at a salary of $120,000-per-year, the outgoing Speaker of the House, Jim Amann, who has thrown his hat into the gubernatorial ring. This has upset some pro-Donovan commentators.

One recalls the scene in “Sienfeld” in which Seinfeld’s buddy George, who finally gets a decent job, has sex with a cleaning lady on his desk. He is found out and called on the carpet by his new boss, who promptly fires him, eliciting the following response: “Was that wrong?”

"I am not a rich guy," Amann said. "I need to work to keep a roof over my head and take care of my wife."

Perhaps so, but the hiring puts a damper on Amann’s gubernatorial run and raises the interesting question: Is the run a cover for the job? How serious is Amann’s gubernatorial bid?

Seriously unserious. However, I'm not sure why he gave up the Speaker's post. His end-game eludes me.

Let's also call a spade a spade. A Republican was also 'hired back'... David Capiello was brought back.. but only at 103K, not the $120,000 that Amann is getting.

The Connecticut "Republicans" can't even get patronage right.

Good thing there's this huge surplus for them to spend, eh?

Understanding North Korea Through Dramaturgy

The U.S. military is sending the Vinson Strike Group, including the carrier and two guided-missile destroyers, to operate in the Western Pacific Ocean in response to Pyongyang’s recent missile tests. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, asked about the strike force, issued a terse statement: “The United States has spoken enough about North Korea. We have no further comment.” Is this a post-Syrian bombing mission? Will the US take out North Korea’s missile launching sites, possibly with the unspoken concurrence of China? Never let a bombing go to waste. There are some in the United States who think any such incident should be used to rid North Korea of that runty little totalitarian cock-of-the-walk who keeps his countrymen starved, in fear and at his knees. The Blumenthal Burisma Connection

Steve Hilton , a Fox News commentator who over the weekend had connected some Burisma corruption dots, had this to say about Connecticut U.S. Senator Dick Blumenthal’s association with the tangled knot of corruption in Ukraine: “We cross-referenced the Senate co-sponsors of Ed Markey's Ukraine gas bill with the list of Democrats whom Burisma lobbyist, David Leiter, routinely gave money to and found another one -- one of the most sanctimonious of them all, actually -- Sen. Richard Blumenthal."
