I mentioned one of their pieces in an earlier blog here. As to the connection with Jackson, Michelle opened the door to Jackson, but even he has begun to question Obama’s loyalty. His trip to Europe and the Middle East should be telling, provided any of the reporters assigned to the case can break through what Nietzsche calls “the cardboard mask.” Don’t hold your breath on that.Don Pescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11167988001948356357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-50941609882697533042008-07-17T23:50:00.000-04:002008-07-17T23:50:00.000-04:00I haven't read the article, but I heard the Ryan L...I haven't read the article, but I heard the Ryan Lizza on NPR's "Fresh Air" show. Oddly enough, he reiterated alot of stuff that has been in the last few issues of National Review about Obama's political nihilism and lack of loyalty, as well as the heavy corruption in Chicago politics. What is really interesting that Lizza said is that Michelle Obama has had long-standing ties with Jesse Jackson Jr. and his family.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-27524261577042374182008-07-17T08:12:00.000-04:002008-07-17T08:12:00.000-04:00What strikes me, in his personal relationships, is...What strikes me, in his personal relationships, is how insubstantial they are. To a certain extent, this is true of all political relationships. The refrain one hears when his old cast off friend get together to exchange war stories is how disloyal he is. That is a mark of someone who is making up his personality as he goes along. There is a ruthlessness about all this that is masked by his outward appearance. I cannot say for certain – I do not thing Obama could say for certain – where the fictional Obama ends and the real one begins. I do not know what he is because his is a chimerical character – by choice. One thing is certain: If he has a problem, it’s going to be our problem. I think he’s going to win. Now, all this may matter or not, but I think we are entering a stage in history where everything will matter.Don Pescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11167988001948356357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-26729583711219850232008-07-17T07:41:00.000-04:002008-07-17T07:41:00.000-04:00Obama is one of the most interesting politicians t...Obama is one of the most interesting politicians to come along in many years. Not because of any issue or particular talent, but because his life story and career choices are really odd. That these may put a guy with very little experience in anything substantial in the White House is troubling. First and foremost is his decision to travel to Chicago and live and work in the South Side. This attempt to recreate himself as a US urban black man is still not successful as the New Yorker story shows. There is some yet unknown desire on his part to be someone he isn't that is a high risk for the nation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
