I agree with you.
There's something of ...Jim,

I agree with you.

There's something of a national movement going on right now towards total transparency -- even in benighted Washington DC. Initially, the incumbency throws up some resistance, but that is quickly overcome; there are just too many advantages involved, and states that do not adopt such a system – cost saving in the long run – find themselves at a disadvantage when contiguous states adopt it.

It engages a broad swath of the public that has been rendered apathetic by impenetrable politics. To me, that is its great advantage. But it will take people like you to push through the idea.

I’ve broached it with some politicians here, and they see the benefits, once the system is laid out. You could do the same in your state. You have my permission to use this blog any way you’d like. If you make it possible for people to join the game, they will play the game.

Good luck to you.Don Pescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11167988001948356357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-31856918948980764612009-10-09T13:05:27.898-04:002009-10-09T13:05:27.898-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Don Pescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11167988001948356357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-69599430949618886132009-10-09T11:57:25.937-04:002009-10-09T11:57:25.937-04:00I would love to see my state, Oregon, adopt measur...I would love to see my state, Oregon, adopt measures similar to Florida's.

One point I'd like to make is that government transparency isn't a red or blue cause. Whether it's the government itself voluntarily adopting rules that provide visibility, or investigative reporters forcing scandals out into the open, transparency is the only thing that has ever kept corruption in check. Liberals see more roles for government than conservatives, but that just makes it that much more important to ensure that the work is done right.

These measures will find support across the spectrum.JimBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00397889451057033724noreply@blogger.com
