The Constitution prescribes a government of limits; but,as always, one is free or not to conform to its strictures. Human freedom is a fearful thing, as God well knows,a great engine of growth or destruction.
Don Pescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11167988001948356357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9069955.post-22998747818711872522013-03-31T08:25:53.132-04:002013-03-31T08:25:53.132-04:00He had no ideas, and he was not a nuisance.
------...He had no ideas, and he was not a nuisance.
---------------
M.E. Bradford cites M. Oakeshott for the distinction between nomocratic and teleocratic government. The Philadelphia Constitution established the former, while the Civil War, especially its rationale declared at Gettysburg, established the latter.
I share Mencken's admiration for Coolidge; the last nomocrat to hold the White House. Now we are treated to teleocracy gone mad. The Constitution didn't authorize Coolidge to "get things done," and now Obama and the Dems give not a fig about the Constitution's limits while the things they get done will destroy society and drive the government into bankruptcy.
God Bless Silent Cal. peter brushnoreply@blogger.com
